Ben Hart is sharing the love by running the Virgin London Marathon for a third time to raise money for a deafblind charity.

The contract manager for Dorset County Council social services has lived in Dorset his whole life and currently lives in Charlton Down, Dorset.

The 35 year-old previously lived in Rodwell and was a former student at Budmouth College.

In the last two years of completing the marathon, Ben’s efforts were in aid of children’s charities but Ben said this year he was looking for a new challenge this year.

He will be running the 26 miles through London’s streets on April 26 for Sense, a charity that has been running since 1955 which helps to support children and adults who are deafblind or have sensory impairments, helping them to have independent lives.

“They do an unbelievable amount of good work for people who have little money and do a lot to impact their lives.”

“What a range of ways in which they help families out, it’s not one of the biggest families which appeals to me, bigger charities hand thousands and thousands of people fundraising for them.”

In the mean time Ben has been raising money by hosting a dress down day at the council office as well as a bake sale and raffle which raised a total of £575.

Ben has been training alongside his college and chief executive of Dorset County Council Debbie Ward and by following a training programme provided by sense in the hope that he can raise £1000 for his chosen charity.

Speaking about the day of the race, Ben said: “It’s one of those things that you never feel quite ready for.

“I’m feeling really good about it and think running for the marathon is really hard because of the sheer amount of miles that you put your body through in the months leading up to it, but on the day it’s incredible.”

“You feel like you’re a real athlete because people are cheering you on and screaming your name from the sidelines.”

Ben is going to be adding to his funds by hosting a “fitness for a cause” charity boot camp event Saturday April 4.

The event will have Ben’s personal trainer Andy Sloan putting people through their paces. Ben said that anyone can take part and the event can be as hard or as easy as they make it.
