A 'BALOONATIC' will be creating something special for St George’s Day in the window of a popular pub in Weymouth.

The Duke of Cornwall pub on St Edmund Street usually pulls out all the stops for the patron saint holiday, and this year will be no exception.

Local balloon sculptor Kevin Hart will be creating a ‘George and the Dragon’ tableau entirely from air inflated modelling balloons on the afternoon of Thursday April 23.

He has been invited by the pub’s landlady Trisha Wilson.

She said: “It’s quite nice for people to come and look at. It’s like performance art really.

“He’s very good at what he does and very enthusiastic too.”

She added that the pub has already started their preparations for the celebration and that by Thursday it will be ‘a sea of red and white.’

Kevin said: "Trisha has always supported me with my balloon sculptures when The Duke of Cornwall celebrates Trafalgar Day, Battle of Britain Day, and more recently St Patrick's Day, so it is a pleasure to be asked to create something special to celebrate our own national day."

Passersby will be able to see the creation come to life in the window and are invited to come into the pub to try their hand at making their own balloon creations.

The pub will also be celebrating in the evening with a live performance from ‘6 String Steve’ as well as other St George’s day deals and treats for punters.
