DOES your child have what it takes to win this year’s Dorset Echo’s Child of the Year contest?

The Echo has launched its 2015 Child of the Year portrait competition to find the child with the winning smile.

Here’s the perfect opportunity to see if your child got what it takes to dazzle and shine like a star in front of the camera.

This year, the Echo is delighted to welcome Broadstone-based Fraser Portraits as the official Dorset Echo Child of the Year photographers.

Fraser Portraits has more than 30 years of experience in taking children’s portraits.

In the competition, there are four different age categories to be won and an overall winner will be chosen.

Categories include:

• Unisex 0-9 months

• Unisex 10-18 months

• Unisex 19-36 months

• Unisex 3-6 years

Anyone who would like to enter a child into the competition will need to cut out a Child of the Year ‘photo session’ advert which will be published every day in the Dorset Echo from May 11 until May 30.

Then, take a copy of the advert along to one of the Echo’s Child of the Year photo shoots taking place at the following venues, from 10am to 4pm daily.

Photo shoots will be held at Tesco Portland on Tuesday, May 26, Tesco Dorchester on Wednesday, May 27 and Asda Weymouth on Thursday, May 28 to Saturday, May 31.

Echo promotions manager Debbie Hellaby said: “If you know a child that would enjoy the experience of attempting to capture the winning picture and become our Child of the Year winner – why not enter our competition?

“We get some wonderful entries to our competition every year and people are always enthusiastic about getting involved.”

Entry is free and all that is needed is the advert from the paper. No photocopies will be allowed and one coupon per child is required.

To enter, children must be newborn to six years old.

Once all the pictures have been taken, supplements of all the pictures will appear in the Dorset Echo in June. Voting for the child you would like to see crowned as the winner of the Dorset Echo Child of the Year portrait competition will be by post, text and phone.

Full details will be printed within each supplement.

Three category winners will receive a 14x11 canvas of their winning picture and a £50 voucher. The overall winner will receive a 16x12 canvass of their winning picture from Fraser Portraits and a £100 voucher.

All winners will also get a certificate.
