POLICE are warning car owners to be vigilant following a number of thefts from vehicles in Weymouth over the weekend.

Between 10pm on Saturday, May 16 and 10am on Sunday, May 17 a black Vauxhall Vivaro parked on a driveway on Comet Close, Weymouth was broken into.

A Sat Nav and two DVD players were stolen from the vehicle.

In a separate incident, a pocket tool was stolen from a blue Peugeot 306 parked in Fraser Avenue, Weymouth after thieves gained entry to the vehicle.

Police believe the break in to have taken place between 4pm on Saturday May 16 and 10am on Sunday May 17 A further two thefts from vehicles parked overnight in Moordown in east Dorset also took place between the same timeframe.

A car parked in Castle Road and a van parked in Ashton Road both had Sat Navs stolen during that time.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Residents in Weymouth please be aware this is the second crime of this nature in the area.

“We would like to remind all residents across Dorset not to leave valuables on display in their vehicles.”
