CALLING all adventurers – Join in a car rally with a difference.

The Windy 500 is a yearly event that see’s explorers pack up a vehicle and head across Europe on a 16 day mystery tour.

The 2016 event is now fast approaching and organisers are after adventurous souls to sign up and join them. The rally will start on Friday 17th June 2016

It started in 2013 when the organisers took a total of 19 teams through 23 countries in 23 days, including the Transfagasaran Highway in Romania, the Stelvio Pass in Italy, Greece, Albania and Switzerland.

It was open to vehicles worth under £500 and the fleet included a 53 year old Morris Minor, a limousine, an ambulance, a Lotus and several camper vans - participants ranged from 5 years old to 70.

Last year the Windy 500 visited Scandinavia where most of the teams managed to reach the Arctic Circle for midsummer to see the Midnight sun.

In 2016 the organisers have decided to open the event up to any vehicle and hope to encourage as many people as possible to take part.

The mystery tour of the continent raises money for charities, including Julia’s House and has so far raised more than £17,000 for good causes.

Anyone interested can attend an event at the Police Station social club in Weymouth on Friday July 3, to find out more.
