A RECORD number of visitors donned their wellies and got back to nature at a country fair.

Kingston Maurward's annual Open Day and Country Fair attracted thousands of people this year.

A spectacular centrepiece was a planted display surrounding a Massey Ferguson tractor – kindly loaned for the event by Hywood Agricultural and Groundcare - including leafy jodhpurs, budding construction helmets and even a floral toilet, all illustrating the ‘Grow’ theme of this year’s event.

People of all ages enjoyed fine food and drink and picnicked on the lawn whilst watching live music from performers including Carissa Berry, Ansell and Gretel and Lauren Bannon.

There were fitness demonstrations and disciplines performed lakeside by Outdoor Adventure, Army Preparation and Uniformed Public Services students.

New students starting in September toured their academy areas and were welcomed to the college in preparation for their enrolment at the end of August.

Other acitivities across the campus included tractor driving, pony rides, meet the animals, tree climbing - plus dog shows all afternoon.

Kingston Maurward College principal Clare Davison said: “This year’s event has been the best we’ve ever held. The atmosphere was wonderful – everyone was smiling and people were taking part in all of the activities. Students and staff worked really hard to make this day special for everyone to enjoy the magic of Kingston Maurward.”
