KIND-HEARTED children have raised a tasty sum for charity.

After being told about the Nepalese earthquake, and how many thousands of people and children are now homeless in the cold of the high mountains, the 1st Chickerell Brownies and Rainbows accepted the challenge to do something to help.

The Brownies made and sold cakes, did a sponsored cycle ride, sold potted herbs and held car boot sales while the Rainbows did a 3 mile sponsored walk and held cake sales.

With the help of their parents and unit leaders, the group raised the amazing sum of £723.

The cheque was handed over to local Shelterbox representative, Ian Brooke by Brownies Anwen and Abigail and Rainbow Anya, so that more Shelterboxes containing a family tent, blankets, cooker, water purifier etc. can be sent to families who have lost everything in a disaster.
