AGE UK DORCHESTER is hoping to reduce loneliness and isolation in Dorset by helping to get older people online.

Working alongside Age UK Bournemouth they will be hoping to help the 20 per cent of older people in the UK who are receiving less than weekly contact with friends, family or neighbours.

They will do this by connecting to an online community of their peers.

Age UK will be working with libraries to deliver a programme of social media training across the county focused on basic computer literacy, followed by ongoing engagement via a moderated space on social media.

Anyone who feels like using the internet is a bit of a mystery and wants to connect with people online can go along to a local library to use the service.

Events are taking place across the county including at Weymouth Library on Friday, August 14 from 10am until 1pm, Dorchester Library on Tuesday, September 8 between 10am and 1pm and Bridport Library on Wednesday, September 23 between 2pm and 5pm.
