WEY Valley School students have achieved ‘great’ results at a highly-regarded national maths competition.

Competing in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, pupils achieved 55 silver and 80 bronze awards.

More than 250,000 pupils across the UK sat the challenge in 2015.

This is the tenth year pupils from Wey Valley have taken part with entrants numbers rising every year.

The challenge is aimed at students in Year Seven and Eight with pupils sitting a test in school under exam conditions.

The students involved enjoyed taking part in the challenge.

Year seven student Alex Afanasiew said: “The challenge was fun, with questions based on real life maths."

Lucy Turnball, in Year Eight said: “The Junior Maths Challenge will certainly help our maths studies in school, we all enjoyed taking part.”
