A WOMAN sustained minor injuries in a collision with a car on Weymouth Esplanade.
The incident happened at 11.30pm on Saturday night close to the American War Memorial close to the Jubilee clock.
Dorset Police and ambulance services were called and the road was closed for 45 minutes. The woman sustained minor injuries in the crash, officers confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said they saw blue flashing lights as the emergency services closed off the road and worked on the incident.
One eyewitness who did not wish to be named said he saw the police turn up first and close the road, followed by an ambulance. He said: “There were four police officers and two paramedics.”
He said he saw a taxi in the road and a woman being treated by paramedics.
Local resident Michael Gates said: “I just heard there was an issue up there because the buses had stopped and the road was closed.” He added that he saw several police cars and the ambulance services treating the casualty. He said: “I saw them putting her onto a stretcher and into the ambulance.”
