Weymouth's tall ship Pelican will be welcoming people on board as its café opens for business giving party-goers a unique venue for a tasty snack or a full blown celebration.

The Peli-Canteen is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 9 from 11am until 4pm and is also available for dinner, private events and Bed and Breakfast for diners by arrangement.

Pelican is moored at Custom House Quay in Weymouth with ample parking nearby.

Kate Graeme-Cook from Adventure Under Sail, the charity which operates Pelican, said: "The Peli-Canteen was a great success last year and we look forward to welcoming customers, old and new. A tall ship is a really unique venue and this year we're offering people the chance to have dinner, stay the night or book the venue for a private party.

"We are also looking for willing volunteers to help out at the cafe."

The Peli-Canteen serves a delicious variety of home cooked goodies including hearty soups, baguettes, baked potatoes and naughty treats including steaming hot chocolate with whipped cream, tasty cakes and cookies.

As we move towards Christmas season, festive fayre will be on the menu including a melting mince pie topped with brandy butter or a steaming turkey and cranberry baguette.

The café is situated in the Mess, the ship's dining room, and can be transformed into a cosy bistro for dinner and private parties and can accommodate 22 people with the crescent shaped saloon.

There is a set menu for dinner at £25 per head for three courses and coffee.

Tall ship Pelican is one of only four Class A vessels in the UK and is operated by charity Adventure Under Sail.

The charity's brief is to enhance people's skills, character and employability through the acquisition of skills attained in sail training.

Day sails, taster voyages, the annual Tall Ships' Races and longer adventures are on offer and the 2016 programme will be published shortly at adventureundersail.com
