WEYMOUTH and Portland Borough Council has been shortlisted for an award to recognise authorities in England and Wales which have published the best reports on their parking services.

The reports lay out the authorities’ services and progress over the year for the benefit of their residents, businesses and visitors.

The borough council is one of seven councils invited to attend the Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London (PATROL) Annual Report Awards and Reception, hosted by David Rutley MP at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday, October 27. Two winners will be announced at the event.

The reception will also see the launch of a new toolkit, designed to support local authorities in producing an annual report that works for them and stakeholders.

PATROL want authorities to see reporting as an opportunity rather than an obligation and there is clear evidence that producing a report can help in pulling together information on parking policies and activities which can be used to inform the public and media about civil enforcement at a local level rather than generalisations which are often reported nationally.
