A PAIR of friends have scooped a Dorset awards double in a national competition.

Rose Bunce and Jodie Martinez, who both run Cambridge Weight Loss centres, both claimed major awards at the Direct Selling Association's Stars of Direct Selling awards.

Jodie, who runs centres in Bridport and Axminster, claimed the rising star award and Rose, from the Dorchester Weight Loss Centre, was named as consultant of the year.

The awards are designed to celebrate the best of the direct selling across the UK and were judged by a panel of experts.

Rose originally helped Jodie to lose weight using the Cambridge weight loss plan before she went on to start up her own business helping other.

Rose said she was delighted for her friend and colleague and it was great for the area to boast two winners in such a prestigious national competition.

She said: "It's awesome because for Dorset and the South West it's such an amazing achievement.

"It just shows even when you get bad times and people have been made redundant and are losing jobs you can still go out and achieve your own business with direct selling."

Sue Watson from the Cambridge Weight Plan said: "Rose had already fought off some massive competition to stand on stage as one of the top three Direct Sellers in the UK – and to win this award is a truly remarkable achievement.

"Rose is thrilled at receiving further recognition for her dedication and says she will continue with her passion to help others."

Jodie originally lost weight after being diagnosed with cervical cancer and has since had a baby and set up her centres to help other women.

Rose said that while for both of them it is about helping local people, the service they provide also provides a relief on local health services.

She said: “I’ve had hundreds of people in the four years.

“It’s such a huge relief on the health system.

“You see it all the time about help to stop smoking but you never get lose weight.”
