STAFF at The Gloucester are preparing for a night of cocktails, canapés, roulette and blackjack as they host a Bond-themed Casino Night in aid of charity.

The black-tie event will be supporting Julia’s House and 007 fans can enjoy a night of entertainment and a charity auction as well as live music from tribute act, Romance of Bond.

Staff at the pub are encouraging prizes and items for the auction to be donated from businesses and the public to help make the evening a success and raise as much money as possible.

Manager Mikey Gates said: “We selected Julia’s House as the charity we are going to support because of the team here at The Gloucester. We wanted a charity that the whole crew could get behind and when I asked them who they would like the business to support the decision was instant and unanimous.”

Julia’s House is the only children’s hospice charity in Dorset, dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families across the county and in South Wiltshire.

Mikey added: “So far we have had a fantastic 34 donations in three days from our suppliers and local businesses from the Weymouth community.
We would like to thank Gods Of Ink for two hours of tattoo time, Mustoe Shorter for a scooter, The Pavillion for a family-of-four pantomime ticket, Weymouth Goldsmiths for their gold earrings and Halfords for a skateboard, helmet and safety pads.

“We have also had donations from Razberry, Chalbury Wines, Heart Deco, Fish ’n’ Fritz, American Nails, Shakers, Phone Fix, Cineworld, Vapour Trails, Global Warehouse, Bibi’s and Coco’s, Pure Hair & Beauty, CEX, Gifts and Goodies, the William Henry, Phone Care, Sophia’s Kitchen, Tom and Erin’s, Sharkys, Railway Tavern, Eats and Drinks, Lazy Lunches, Bon Bon, Doggie Shop, Natural Inspirations, Tilleys Bike Shop, Limelight, Jailhouse Café Portland and Enterprise Inns.”

As well as the charity night, The Gloucester will be hosting a night in January for Julia’s House to help them recruit new members.

The Gloucester will provide the venue, food and drink for this evening free of charge as part of their commitment towards the charity.

Hannah Robinson, from Julia’s House, said: “We have a long serving and lovely friends group in Weymouth who have raised lots of money over the years for Julia’s House and do lots of work locally to promote the charity. The group are in need of new volunteers and at my last meeting with them we made some initial plans to try and hold an evening in January firstly to say thank you to all the volunteers in the group and secondly to try and get some new people along.”

The Gloucester is appealing for anyone to make a donation for the event, whether a service an item or cash, all donations will be gratefully received.

The event is being held on Saturday, December 5 from 7pm.
