An electrical box and water pipes were damaged in a public toilets in Weymouth.
The incident in Bond Street is believed to have taken place between 6pm and 10pm on Saturday, April 9.
Police Constable Aidan Meredith , of Weymouth police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who saw someone committing damage to the toilets during the relevant times to please call me on 101.
"I am also keen to hear form anyone who may know who was responsible for this crime to please get in contact. The damage is being repaired and as a result this facility has had to be closed while this takes place."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 10:308. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
