Tools were stolen from a van in Weymouth.

Now, police are reminding people not to leave items in their vehicles overnight.

The incident happened between 8pm on Tuesday, April 26 and 8.30am on Wednesday, 27.

Offenders gained access to a Ford Transit van parked overnight in Rowan Close and stole a number of tools. Some of the stolen items were recovered from a nearby alleyway.

Police Constable William Taylor, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between the relevant times to please call me on 101.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has been offered tools for sale locally in suspicious circumstances.

“Motorists are reminded to ensure they don’t leave tools or valuable items in their vehicles overnight. Fit a visible alarm system, double lock your van, reduce access to your vehicle by parking against a garage or wall and, if possible, park somewhere well-lit and with CCTV coverage.”
