A MAN has been found dead at a guest house on Weymouth seafront.

Emergency services were called early yesterday morning to Seasons Guest House on Brunswick Terrace.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 7.16am this morning to reports of a sudden death of a man aged in his 40s at Seasons Guest House, Brunswick Terrace, Weymouth.

"Officers and the ambulance service attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."

The coroner has been informed.

Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Cllr Christine James, said she was "sad" to hear the news.

She added: "It's a horrible situation for both the family and the people who own the guest house.

"It was such a young age as well. There are too many people suddenly passing away in similar situations who are young people."

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service confirmed they was called at 7.07am.

An eyewitness said: "I saw one police car and one ambulance and officers and paramedics outside the guest house. It's a lovely area and so unexpected. The man was so young as well. My thoughts go out to the family."

Helen Heart was walking her dog along the seafront when she noticed the ambulance and police car.

She said: "It's not something you ever expect to happen is it. I am thinking of the family and of the owners too. I take myself on this walk down to the gardens and back every morning and it's always so quiet and peaceful. Such sad news."

Seasons Guest House was contacted but did not wish to comment.
