NEW blood is needed to keep Weymouth Music Festival going.

The festival, which is due to be held in March 2017 for its 30th year, needs volunteers to be on its committee.

Weymouth Music Festival gives musicians of all ages and abilities the chance to perform their music in front of an audience on a relaxed and supportive platform.

Many of the musicians taking part will be performing for the first time and get feedback from a highly qualified and friendly adjudicator.

Pianist Duncan Honeybourne, who performed at the festival as a young musician, said if new people cannot be recruited, the festival may not be able to continue.

He said: We need well-organised, enthusiastic people with a bit of time to spare. You don't have to be a musician, and you don't need to be brilliant at everything.

"Anyone who would be interested in being part of a friendly team and would like to play a part in making this wonderful event happen will be warmly welcomed at our friendly committee meetings.

"We need people to spread the word, distribute publicity, investigate sponsorship possibilities and collate entries.

"Computer skills are useful for some roles, but by no means essential for all. We are a happy team and enjoy running one of the friendliest festivals in the country - inclusive, non-competitive and welcoming of all music making."
