WEYMOUTH headteacher David Akers has appeared in court charged with historic sex offences against a former pupil.
Mr Akers, head of Budmouth College, spoke only to confirm his name and address at Weymouth Magistrates Court this morning.
He is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 in 1995.
Mr Akers, 60, of Waddon, did not enter a formal plea.
The allegations do not relate to any current pupils at the school.
He took over as Budmouth headteacher in 2002 having previously left the school after spending seven years there as a teacher.
Mr Akers has been released on conditional bail and will appear at Dorchester Crown Court on Friday, August 12.
