There's no let-up on the summer fun this weekend with a chance to celebrate our life-saving heroes, hear some cutting Noel Coward one-liners and appreciate the South Dorset Ridgeway.

*HAVE a go at a variety of sporting activities on Weymouth beach this weekend.

Between 10am and 5pm tomorrow and Sunday, visitors can try a range of activities, including beach and water sports. There will also be an opportunity to take part in many interactive health activities and workshops.

*GET your youngster moving with a Toddle Waddle and family fun day on the Great Field at Poundbury tomorrow from 10am.

The event was inspired by Dorchester youngster George Patterson, who was struck down by meningitis as a baby.

There will be plenty of activities for all the family on the field and funds will be raised for charity Meningitis Now. There will also be an information stand manned by campaigners fighting to protect Dorset County Hospital services.

*TRADITIONAL folk and gypsy-flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia arrives in the county town tonight.

The Budapest Cafe Orchestra will perform at the Corn Exchange, Dorchester, from 8pm, led by jazz violin superstar Christian Garrick.

*THE Borough Gardens in Dorchester will come to life again this weekend with music from Stoke Sub Hamdon Brass Band from 2.30pm on Sunday.

*A BARBECUE fun day will be held by the Friends of Castle Cove tomorrow from 12pm to 4pm at the Old Castle Hotel in Weymouth.

The day, in celebration of gaining full charity status, will include loads of events and activities including a bouncy castle, a Paddling Pool Paper Boat Race and more.

Put in a bid at the Friends' Grand Auction of Promises which includes plenty of top lots.

*PICK up some tasty produce at the West Bay W.I. Summer Fete on Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Goodies will include refreshments, cakes, tombola, books and bric-a-brac.

*HOW about watching some witty Noel Coward repartee in the open air?

Hayfever calls into Poundbury Farmhouse for two performances on Sunday, courtesy of the Wessex Actors Company.

Performances are at 1pm and 6pm with people invited to start picnicking an hour before the performances. People are advised to bring only low backed chairs and only to use brollies or sunshades if sat at the sides or rear.

*GET boned up on beach life at the Chesil Beach Centre in Weymouth on Sunday.

Learn about the whales, sharks, dolphins and huge jellyfish that we have in Dorset with a hunt for shark and ray eggcases along Chesil Beach.

The session runs from 11am to 12.30pm and costs £3 for adults and £2 for children.

*SOAK up some artwork inspired by the South Dorset Ridgeway this weekend.

The Kingcombe Centre at Toller Porcorum is hosting the free exhibition from 11am to 4.30pm today, tomorrow and Sunday.

Artists have created the Field Days Art Exhibition in a variety of mediums, from mirrors, light boxes and paintings, to carvings, cartoons and sculptures, each responding to the archaeology, geology and ancient myths and legends of the Ridgeway. There will also be workshops in tin and copper smelting.

*WEYMOUTH'S Lifeboat Week begins on Sunday with a service taking place on the ferry steps by Weymouth pavilion, featuring rousing music from the Salvation Army band.

On Monday all the action is taking place at the Nothe, where there will be an exciting display by the lifeboats, coastguards and the rescue helicopter.

There will also be a hog roast, bands a bar, tug-of-war and stalls. It takes place from 6.15pm.

*RAF helicopters will swoop over Lyme Regis to kick off this year’s annual lifeboat week.

The RNLI fundraising week will be held from tomorrow (23) until July 30.

Organisers have revealed that a flypast of RAF Puma helicopters will be part of the opening day of action at this year’s event.

Also tomorrow, the popular bath tub race will be held at the harbour at 8pm.
