THE community came together for a festival celebrating music and the arts.

The event at All Saints Church of England School raises thousands of pounds every year to help fund equipment for pupils.

Visitors were treated to an array of displays, shows and hands on activities, and the sun even came out to brighten proceedings.

Amanda Dunning, of Friends of All Saints (FASSA), which organises the annual event, said she was ‘thrilled’ at the success of it.

“Everyone comes together to be able to put this on, and there really is something for everyone.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors, as sponsorship covers the cost of putting on the event, so every penny raised can go directly to helping not only the current pupils, but also those who attend the school in the future.”

For the last several years, money raised at the event has paid for a new IT suite at the school, with 35 computers. This has now been installed and money this year will go towards specialist science equipment.

Entertainment included live bands and artists, a 35-foot climbing wall, photography and trade stalls, vintage vehicles, a majorette display, taekwondo, a barbecue, fashion shows and steam trains.

There was also a mini football tournament, with a trophy for the winners.

Amanda added: “We try and put on something for everyone, as long as it is in some way connected to music and arts. You never know how many people are going to turn up – we advertise it as best as we can and I am really pleased with the turn out this year.

“The kids from the school come along, and parents, but also people from the community, in Wyke Regis and beyond. And it is so well supported. We are all volunteers and many of the teachers and staff also gave up their time to help.

“People keep asking what the date of the next event is. It does take a lot of planning but it’s something we’re all very committed to.

“It’s all to help the children.”
