THEATRE fans have another treat on the big screen to look forward to.

Returning to the RSC after 20 years, Simon Russell Beale will appear as Prospero in the company's production of The Tempest, screening at local cinemas on Wednesday January 11 from 7pm.

It will be live by satellite on screen from Stratford-upon-Avon.

On a distant island a man waits. Robbed of his position, power and wealth, his enemies have left him in isolation. However, this is no ordinary man and this is no ordinary island. Prospero is a magician who is able to control the very elements and bend nature to his will.

When a sail appears on the horizon, he reaches out across the ocean to the ship that carries the men who wronged him. Creating a vast magical storm he wrecks the ship and washes his enemies up on the shore. When they awake, they find themselves lost on a fantastical island where nothing is as it seems.

In a unique partnership with Intel, this production will be using today’s most advanced technology in a bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s magical play, creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.

*Screenings will take place at Weymouth Cineworld, Dorchester Plaza, Dorchester Odeon, Bridport Electric Palace and the Regent Centre, Christchurch. Contact the cinemas for tickets.

Simon Russell Beale can be seen live on stage at the Regent in Christchurch on Sunday February 19 at 3pm for an afternoon performance of Reverie: The Life & Loves of Claude Debussy.

Simon will be accompanied by his pianist, Lucy Parham with a programme of Debussy’s words and music
