TAKE part in an inspiring day of singing with the Weymouth Choral Society.

The group is holding a workshop at the Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester on Saturday March 18.

People are invited to come and sing choruses from Mendelssohn's Oratio Elijah.

The workshop will be led by Colin Davey, chief examiner and education programmes manager for the Royal School of Church Music.

Colin is a highly experienced choral director and organist, currently holding the position of director of music with Fareham Philharmonic Choir and at St Michael’s Church, Bassett, Southampton.

The workshop will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm and will feature choruses from Mendelssohn’s popular, dramatic oratorio Elijah, through which Colin will focus on vocal and choral technique, musicianship and interpretation.

The fee for the day is £10 which includes tea and coffee and music hire.

No prior knowledge of the music is required, although the ability to read music would be an advantage.
