LAST year was the 300th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal Engineers.
With this in mind, Bob Williams, of Weymouth, is trying to get plaques placed in local areas which are connected to the Royal Engineers.
He is asking Looking Back readers for help in finding some old photos of the Nothe Fort in Weymouth before 1948 - its days as a military fort.
Mr Williams is also interested in a photo of the Wyke Regis Bridging Camp in the 1950, which was built by the Royal Engineers,s and of the regiments of The Verne Citadel on Portland.
He said: "I used to be in the Royal Engineers and I'm very keen to get these plaques put up to mark the anniversary."
Anyone who has old photos from the times Mr Williams is looking for should contact Looking Back by emailing joanna.davis@dorsetecho.co.uk or calling 01305 830973.
