THE man behind one of the classic albums of the 1980s is bringing his smooth sound to Weymouth this weekend.

Alexander O'Neal will perform at Weymouth Pavilion on Saturday night to celebrate the h30th anniversary of his album Hearsay.

The singer, one of RnB’s most iconic names, invites you to join him together with his nine piece all star band in celebration of his 1987 masterpiece.

Spending more than two years in the UK album charts and selling more than 700,000 copies Hearsay was certified triple platinum by the B.P.I. The album launched seven charting singles, Fake, Criticize, Never Knew Love Like This, The Lovers, (What Can I Say) To Make You Love Me and Sunshine, there are simply no fillers on the album.

Hearsay commenced Alexander's special relationship with the UK, where he still holds the record for an African-American performer selling out six straight nights at Wembley Aarena. With his heart firmly in the music industry and a loyalty in the thousands that still buy his records Alexander's passion to keep his sound alive is ever present.

Alexander O'Neal was born in Mississippi in 1953. He performed with several bands including the Mystics and Wynd Chymes. He became a member of Enterprise for a brief period before joining Flyte Tyme, a band which included Monte Moir, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Alexander released his debut album, the eponymous Alexander O'Neal in 1985. Since then, he has released eight studio albums, six compilation albums and one live album.
