IT’S all systems go for Armed Forces Day celebrations in Weymouth and Portland which will see thousands of veterans and enthusiasts coming together.
The borough council, which works with local veterans and associations to organise the event in June, has welcomed a £7,500 grant from the Ministry of Defence to help fund the celebrations.
This year’s Armed Forces Day celebrations will be held on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18. Most events take place on Weymouth seafront.
Among the highlights of the festivities are a magnificent historic military vehicle display and rally, memorabilia and photos reflecting the era and wartime impact on local communities.
On the Sunday, from 11am, an open-air service at the British Cenotaph on Weymouth seafront will be followed by a major military parade.
