A woman has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash on the A354.
Police said they were called to the crash on Monkton Hill, near Upwey, at 10.57am.
Officers and the ambulance service attended the incident, with police temporarily having to hold traffic in both directions while emergency services were at the scene.
A fire crew from Weymouth Fire Station also attended to clear debris over the road and disconnect a car battery, as police said it was making a noise.
Crew manager John Wickham confirmed that there was no fire and said that the crash was a front and rear bumper collision.
He said: "We were here just to make sure the scene was safe."
One woman was injured in the collision and suffered serious injuries, though they are not thought to be life threatening.
The crash caused heavy traffic on the A354 between Bincombe and Dorchester.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said the vehicles have now been recovered and the road is open.
