A FREE pop up theatre event at a Weymouth beauty spot will feature fantastical characters including fairies and pirates.

A Dreamy Late Summer’s Eve will be held at Sandsfoot Castle, Weymouth, on Saturday August 19 from 5pm.

The community fund raising event, organised by AsOne Theatre, is now free for everyone at the gate.

The family fun planned for the evening includes musical theatre, ballet, Shakespeare, mummers, games, story-telling; a raffle, treasure hunt, and lucky dip. There are performers aged from five to 75.

Jane McKell artistic director at AsOne said: "We want as many of the community, especially large, extended families to enjoy this fantastic event, and those attending will give or spend as generously as they can afford.

"So with AsOne’s licenses and insurance costs covered; plus many kind people volunteering to help - we are asking people during the evening to donate what they feel the event is worth and spend as much as they can afford on the bar, games, raffles and tombola."

People are invited to bring a picnic but no drinks - as drinks are being sold on site. All proceeds are going towards the not for profit theatre company’s community touring projects.

AsOne take professional, quality theatre and tailor made workshops into schools, libraries, and prisons.

A Dreamy Late Summer's Eve is supported by Goadsby Estate Agents and Piddle Brewery and features a rolling treasure hunt How Many Fairies and Hobgoblins.

Performances will continue until 9pm and will include scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream, an event opening with Demonia from Pirates of the Pavilion and musical performances from Rachel Scott, Damaris Fowler and Alistair Dean.

There will also be a special performance from the Let's Dance fairies, which are choreographed and rehearsed by Tanya Lonergan.
