A date for the ever popular bi-annual Weymouth Lifeboat Ball has been set.

This year it will be held on Trafalgar Night - Saturday, October 21 - and those attending are being encouraged to dress to impress.

It will be held in the Ocean Room of Weymouth Pavilion and will start at 7pm.

The night will be kick-started with a three-course dinner before the dancing begins.

Music will be provided by the 10-piece band, Soulside, who have performed at previous events with the Weymouth Lifeboat

There will be music from the sixties, seventies and modern music to dance the night away to.

Carol Pitman, chairman of the events committee of Weymouth RNLI Lifeboat Station said: "We were so impressed with the group, Soulside, at the last ball that I booked them on the night for this year's ball.

"The Ocean Room is the perfect venue to hold the ball.

"We are also pleased to support this great community resource."

Members of the committee and events group are looking for sponsors for the night, so if you are a business or individual who would like to support the RNLI, contact the station on 01305 787238.

The tickets cost £30 and can be bought from the Pavilion box office, online at weymouthpavilion.co.uk or by calling 01305 785817.
