A PANEL of experts will debate climate change and how to combat it at an event in Weymouth.

Transition Town Weymouth and Portland is organising the Dorset Climate Change Conference, which the public are invited to attend.

It comes after violent and dramatic weather events which have wreaked havoc around the world.

Speakers include John Tomblin from Transition Town Weymouth and Portland, environmental project officer Emily Bullock, and Pete West of Dorset Community Energy.

A panel of politicians will outline their parties’ policies to combat climate change and then answer questions.

They include climate change minister Claire Perry (or a member of her department), Amelia Womack from the Green Party, Lee Rhodes for Labour and David Harris for the Lib Dems.

Workshops will cover various aspects of tackling climate change.

The conference will be held at St Aldhelms’ Church Centre, Spa Road, Weymouth from 10 am-4 pm on Saturday, October 21.
