Funds from a society that no longer exists have been donated to a initiative in Southill.
The Southill Preservation Society was formed several years ago to oppose plans to build houses on the community land in the centre of Southill.
The campaign was successful and as such there was no need for the society to continue.
However, there were some funds still left in the account which came from a variety of sources including individual donations and very early fundraising for Southill Play Area Recreation for Kids (SPARK).
Ian Brooke and Lindsay Drage how now closed down the Southill Preservation Society account and the money has been transferred to SPARK to ensure it is available for the benefit of Southill.
A donation is also being made to Southill fireworks who are supporting Southill Primary School this year.
Pete Barrow chairman of SPARK said: “We are delighted to accept the funds and SPARK will ensure that the money will go towards the play area and environmental improvements."
In efforts to increase funds for SPARK, organisers are hosting a Christmas Shopping Online Auction which starts at 7pm tonight (22).
