The festive season has truly arrived as a business networking group puts its weight behind the Dorset Echo Toy Appeal.

Once again, Webx Networking Group in Weymouth have generously donated £100 to help disadvantaged children.

Webx is a local networking group of business owners who formed in 2014 who currently meet at the Pavilion in Weymouth.

Their primary function is to offer help and support to other members of the group, particularly 'start up' businesses, and they also support local charities and worthwhile causes.

Webx member, Malcolm Steevens said: “We’ve been supporting the Dorset Echo Toy Appeal for the last couple of years, as a lot of the Webx members have children of their own and know how lovely it is to see the joy in their own children’s faces at Christmas when opening presents - especially when receiving toys.

"We also know that there are a lot of families and children locally who are not as fortunate as we are and we would like all children to have the same potentially wonderful experience as our own. We therefore encourage all other local businesses and business organisations to donate and get involved with this very worthwhile cause.”

For 18 years, the Toy Appeal has campaigned to make sure every child in Dorset has a present to open on Christmas morning - no matter what their situation.

Webx's appeal donation will be used to buy gifts and vouchers which will be distributed before Christmas to children who would otherwise go without.

Echo promotions manager Debbie Hellaby said: “Without the support of our readers and local businesses we would not be able to help to put smiles on all those families faces at Christmas, so thank you.”

As well as business donations, members of the public have generously been putting toys in bins around the county to get them off to a new home.

Last year, the Dorset Echo raised more than £4,493 and collected hundreds of toys through the appeal and we are hoping to top that figure this year - ensuring even more children have a toy to open on Christmas Day.

Collection Points are now accepting toy donations and will be based across Dorset.
