A lucky couple are 'thrilled' after a competition in the Echo helped them transform their garden.

Teaming up with Colourfence, we offered a lucky reader the opportunity to win the ‘ultimate’ garden fence worth up to £2,500.

Gladys and Peter Davis of Trenchard Way, Chickerell, collected tokens from the paper and beat out more than 200 other entries to be crowned the winners.

The Davis' decided to have their courtyard garden with a brown steel fence and last week, the Colourfence team headed to Chickerell to complete the work.

Mrs Davis said: "It poured with rain all day and all we could do is sit an watch them work. But they didn't complain once and got the job done in less than a day. By the time they left, you wouldn't have known they had been."

She added the couple were very pleased with the final result and were looking forward to getting some plants to finish off the garden.

The Colourfence team also partially replaced the neighbours fence and an existing gate as it joined with the Davies' fence.

Director of Colourfence Dorset, Andy Stewart said: "We want to keep neighbour relations happy and they seem pleased with the results."

Mr Davis said his wife had been very excited when she found out they had won.

He joked he would be sending Colourfence the bill for 'all the holes in the ceiling since my wife's made bouncing off the walls.'

"It's nice to know you can actually win these kinds of competitions. Sometimes you enter and you don't think there's any chance - but we won," he said.

Colourfence fencing is made from innovative ‘colourbond’ steel which is virtually maintenance free and comes with a 25 year guarantee.

Mr Stewart said: "It's been a really good thing to do. We wanted to do it for someone after all the high winds and bad weather. It's nice to give something back and it's nice to be able to give it to such a nice couple."
