A woman kicked a police officer in the jaw and then bit his hand during a struggle outside a nightclub, a court heard.

Bethany Timson, 18, and of Kirtleton Avenue in Weymouth, pleaded guilty at Weymouth Magistrate’s Court to two counts of assault by beating and two counts of assaulting an officer in the execution of their duty.

Prosecutor Richard Oakley said Timson was on a night out on January 30 when she was seen on CCTV punching two females in the face near Actors nightclub on Maiden Street.

CCTV operators called police, who found a doorman struggling with Timson on the floor while she was kicking and screaming.

The court heard that PC Clark told Timson to calm down, when she aimed a “forceful and deliberate” kick at his jaw. The officer attempted to arrest Timson but she “continued lashing out” before biting PC Clark’s hand.

At the custody suite in Weymouth police station, Timson spat at an officer involved in restraining her whilst she was lashing out.

Following the assault, PC Clark had to go to hospital for treatment to his jaw as well as take anti-HIV and Hepatitis B booster drugs. He said the side effects of the anti-HIV treatment are “frightening” and that the assault had a “huge impact” on him and his family.

Mitigating, Lee Christmas said: “She can’t explain what happened. She is ashamed of her actions, it was totally out of character.”

Timson is due to be sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Friday, May 4.
