LAST week we saw the Princess Royal Princess Anne visit the Tank Museum Bovington to open a workshop and visit a restored Second World War Matilda II tank which was named in her honour.
Here at Looking Back we're big fans of the Queen's diligent daughter, who was found to be the hardest working Royal last year, carrying out an impressive 455 Royal engagements.
So it seems timely to share a couple of pictures of when Anne last visited Dorset.
In April 2014 she visited Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy to watch the penultimate day of the RYA Youth National Championships.
The Princess Royal, president of the Royal Yachting Association, arrived via |elicopter. Upon arrival, the Princess Royal was introduced to a number of the event’s staff, including James Tilley, RYA operations manager.
She spoke at length with Mr Tilley and others on the |academy building’s veranda during her visit.
Anne was taken out to sea and spent the afternoon looking at the different race
courses, as well as the different classes.
On a beautiful day in August 2012 Princess Anne visited Portland Bill and unveiled a plaque to open the NCI Portland Bill's new training centre.
Princess Anne praised the work of NCI volunteers on which the organisation depends and she passed on ‘a very big thank you’ on behalf of all who use the sea and cliffs.
We're sure we can look forward to many more visits from Princess Anne in the future.
