Grandmother back for a second time

A GRANDMOTHER on a mission has set her sights on the London Marathon for a second time.

Angela White, 60, is raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her son-in-law's mother.

Mary Pitt died of bowel cancer last February and her family and friends were supported by the charity.

Angela said: "It is a cause close to my heart and fundraising has been good, thanks to the wonderful support of friends and family.

"I have raised £2,200 mainly from a series of eight coffee mornings and cream teas."

Retired teacher Angela started running four years ago while working at St John's Primary School in Weymouth.

Most recently she completed the 10-mile Great South Run in Portsmouth in the pouring rain.

She said: "Training has gone well and I did a long run of 18 miles last week.

"I've been running with the Weymouth St Paul's Harriers and my running companion Karen Croad.

"I would love to complete the marathon in less than five-and-a-half hours this time."
