Arsonists torch 4x4 on Portland
ARSONISTS torched a 4x4 on Portland.
Firefighters were called to the blazing vehicle on Wide Street at around 00.34am this morning.
Crews extinguished the fire using jets.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire was believed to be deliberate. “Damage to the vehicle was severe by fire to the rear of the passenger compartment and there was heavy smoke damage to the remainder of the vehicle.
“Dorset Police attended the scene and are carrying out an investigation.”
On their way back to the station firefighters used a hydrant in Easton Square to replenish the water supply on the fire appliance.
