MUSICAL duo Simon and Garfunkel are to be celebrated in Dorchester and Lyme Regis.

Regarded as the most authentic sounding tribute to the music of Simon and Garfunkel, Bookends are back on tour with their moving and powerful live performance.

The gig will also include a multimedia show that takes a chronological journey through the friendship and career of the American folk rock duo.

Bookends sold out the Arts Centre last year and the demand for tickets was so great that Dorchester Arts has decided to bring them back for a two-night run on Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15.

They will then be at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, on Friday March 27.

Opening at the start of their career and ending at the much-publicised breakup the show features hits such as The Sound of Silence, Mrs. Robinson, The Boxer and the unforgettable Bridge Over Troubled Water, along with other timeless classics from the Simon & Garfunkel repertoire.

Bookends are Dan Haynes and Pete Richards, good friends who have shared a common interest in music since secondary school.

This interest would lead them to begin singing together, originally for personal enjoyment and now for audiences across the UK.

Having sung alongside each other for many years, their voices have become finely tuned, blending together perfectly in harmony to create a magnificent recreation of the sound of Simon and Garfunkel.

With a mutual passion for the music of Paul Simon and a natural gift for singing close harmonies, they began to learn the songs of Simon and Garfunkel, paying particular attention to the perfect harmony, timing and diction of the original and live recordings.

Encouraged by friends and family, the pair began to perform to wider audiences and created ‘Simon and Garfunkel – Through The Years’, a show that would celebrate the music and career of Simon and Garfunkel and replicating their sound like no other act can.
