A VEHICLE was destroyed by fire on Portland this morning in what is believed to have been an act of arson.
Firefighters responded at 6.19am after multiple reports of a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Portland Castle in the Castletown area of the island.
A fire engine from Portland was mobilised to the incident and found the vehicle well alight on arrival.
The crew was able to extinguish the blaze, which resulted in 100 per cent damage to the vehicle.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service say the fire was believed to have been started deliberately.
