THIS year’s Upwey Well dressing will be installed today.
The well dressing is currently being made at The Old School Village Hall next to the Upwey Wishing Well Café and the well dressing will be taken to the source of the River Wey in the gardens at lunchtime.
The theme for this year’s dressing is owls and fundraising this year will be for charities including wildlife conservation projects at Lorton Meadows.
The ceremony will include the From Valley Morris who will dance around the well and the a capella singing group The Elements, who will sing a song especially written for the well dressing.
The well will be blessed by Interfaith Minister Carol Lewis.
The well dressing should last throughout May but will be at its best throughout the coming weekend.
The spring at Upwey is the largest in the south of England and well dressing was introduced in 1986.
The community gets together each year to dress the well in a theme in aid of local charities.
