A LYME Regis man standing trial alongside his mother for drug offences has denied wanting to sell drugs to others.

Thomas Ryan Videan, aged 23, and Eleanor Videan, aged 52, both of Pound Street, Lyme Regis, are both charged with possessing Class A drug MDMA with intent to supply.

Thomas Ryan Videan is also charged with possessing Class B drug cannabis with intent to supply. Both defendants deny these charges.

The charges relate to an incident in July last year after police searched their home.

A jury at Dorchester Crown Court previously heard a bag of dried dog food was found containing three lumps of MDMA weighing 81.9g. There were also 17 small clear plastic bags of MDMA, with each having an average weight of 0.43g.

Thomas Ryan Videan told the court he bought the MDMA in Exeter.

After using the drug initially, the defendant said he stopped using it and 'tried to forget it'.

He told the court: “I wanted to throw it away but I didn’t feel mentally strong enough.”

Prior to taking the drug, the defendant said he hadn't taken MDMA for the previous six to eight months, following a spell of self-rehabilitation.

He told the court he briefly turned to the drug again following the death of his godfather.

In addition to MDMA, a bag containing 28g of herbal cannabis and a small bag containing a small cannabis leaf was found at the house.

Thomas Ryan Videan described the cannabis as old and dusty, something that had been left over from a long time.

He said he had ‘no intention’ for it to be sold. The trial continues.
