COTTEES Auctions are celebrating after a successful valuation day saw them auction a poster for more than £5,000.

When the BBC TV programme Flog It! went to Highcliffe Castle to record a valuation day for their auction at Cottees of Wareham, one of the hopeful vendors turned up with his lifetime collection of horror and other film posters.

With the collection numbering more than 100 in total, Cottees sold ten of the posters for the benefit of the television programme in July which will be broadcast later this year.

They will be offering the remaining 100 along with a number of other entries at auction on Tuesday, September 29 from 2pm.

The highlight of the July sale was a very rare Dracula poster from the 1959 film starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee which sold for a hammer price of £5,500. The auctioneers have welcomed the success of the sale and are hoping it will provide a taste of things to come.

John Condie of Cottees said that he and Nell Hilditch were hoping to add sales of film posters to their ever increasing list of specialist sales especially when Cottees moves to its new larger auction premises at Mannings Heath in Poole, with the relocation planned.
