FIREFIGHTERS were called to two fires and one false alarm in south and west Dorset yesterday.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service was first called shortly after 2pm to a property fire in Milborne St Andrew.

Two crews, one from Dorchester and one from Blandford, attended the property and found a fire in the kitchen of a semi-detached bungalow.

The fire was extinguished using breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

It is not believed that anybody was injured in the fire.

Firefighters launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and it is believed to have been sparked by an electrical fault in a fridge freezer.

Later in the day, at 9.36pm, firefighters were called to another possible property fire in Weymouth.

On arrival, crews found the incident to be a false alarm with the fire out on arrival. They had been called after a smoke alarm activated due to smoke from food which was cooking.

One hour later at 10.38pm, the crews were called to a bin which was on fire in Portland Road, Weymouth.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.

No investigation into the fire was launched as it was believed to have been caused accidentally.
