YOUNGSTERS from Lulworth and Winfrith Primary School did their bit to support the Dorset Historic Churches Trust with their own Ride and Stride event.
More than 100 children from the school took part in the sponsored walk, accompanied by their teachers and members of the church community.
Children from the junior class of the Lulworth School set off from Dagger’s Gate in West Lulworth and walked through the valley below Winfrith Hill to the village of Chaldon Herring.
On arrival they were met by their infant classmates from the Winfrith Newburgh site and together they strode through the village and up to the historic 15th century Church of St Nicholas.
During a short service, which was led by the Reverend Bob Naylor, Louise Haywood from the Dorset Historic Churches Trust thanked the children on their achievement.
She said: “On behalf of the Dorset Historic Churches Trust I would like to thank every one of you who has walked today to raise funds for the trust.
“The money you have raised today will help towards repairing churches like this and ensure our churches will still be standing in 100 years' time.”
The event followed the main Ride and Stride event, which saw people across the county taking in as many churches as they could on foot, by bike and also on horseback.
