THE VICTIM of a daylight aggravated burglary has spoken of the effect the crime has had on him.

The incident occurred at around 7.10pm on Friday, April 29 at an address off King Street, Weymouth.

Two men are said to have stolen a number of items including a quantity of cash, a mobile phone and tobacco.

The victim, a 53-year-old man who did not wish to be named, was not physically injurred.

However, he said that the burglary had left him "felling vulnerable."

He added: "I'm afraid to answer the door bell.

"We went upstairs and they pulled a sharp object on me - I couldn't tell whether it was a knife or a screwdriver."

He claims the offenders went on to try and take his girlfriend's handbag but she refused to let them.

The burglars took, he estimates, £135 in cash from his home.

He said: "I'm still in shock at the moment."

The offenders are reported to be white and aged in their mid-30s. Both wore dark clothing.

One of the men was around 5ft 10in tall and of a heavy build. He had short black hair in a possible side parting, was clean shaven and spoke with a local accent.

The second offender is described as around 5ft 11in tall, of slim build, with black medium-length hair. He wore a plain black scarf covering his mouth and nose.

Detective Constable Siobhan Lovering, of Weymouth CID, said: “The incident occurred at a time when it was still bright and sunny and in a busy area of town, so I believe there may have been potential witnesses around.

"The offenders stole a large Smirnoff bottle that contained cash, so it is possible the men may have been seen carrying this.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact me."

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
