A UNIQUE look at the Jurassic Coast is on offer for those who choose to hop aboard a special cruise.

The National Trust team in West Dorset has joined forces with Stuart Line Cruises to offer a choice of two boat trips on Wednesday, June 1.

The morning cruise starts at Lyme Regis and travels east on a circular route towards West Bay, whilst the afternoon trip heads west in a circular route from the same starting point towards Beer Head in Devon.

Both of the trips will last for around two and a half hours and will be accompanied by detailed commentary from geologist Richard Edmonds and Tony Flux, National Trust coast adviser.

The commentary will allow those on board to find out more about the history and heritage of the coastline as well as the rare wildlife of the area.

Richard Edmonds said: "The boat trip will explore millions of years of geological time locked up in the cliffs of the West Dorset and the East Devon coast.

"The view from the sea is one of the best ways to marvel at the huge landslides that make up this part of our coast.

"It is also a great way to see the rare wildlife habitats that are created by the ever present forces of erosion."

This is the second time that the National Trust branch has organised these boat trips, with last year's events proving to be popular.

Sarah Kennedy, ranger from the National Trust's West Dorset office said: "It’s great to be working with Stuart Line Cruises again following the success of last year's trips.

"This is the only date available to organise this year so book up now.

"Don’t forget to bring a camera and binoculars along too."

Tickets for each of the cruises cost £15 per person, with children welcome.

Hot drinks and a bar service will be provided on both of the boat trips.

The two trips are subject to change due to weather conditions on the day.
