TAKE a peek behind the wall and stroll through some beautiful gardens – all for a good cause.

Coastwatch Portland Bill will be hosting a charity day at Charborough Park, near Wareham.

Visitors will have the chance to stroll through the bluebell woods, see the rhododendron and azalea bushes and enjoy the views.

Cream tea will also be served, whilst crafts, cakes, local cards, and books will be available to purchase.

Volunteer watchkeepers will also be at the event to talk to.

National Coastwatch Institution at Portland Bill has been running since 1997. Volunteers watch the coastline around the Race area and Jurassic Coast from 7am to 7pm, 365 days a year.

The event takes place on Sunday, May 29 from 2.30pm until 6pm. Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children aged between six and 16. No dogs are allowed.

Station Manager Geoff Peters said it would be a fantastic day and everyone was invited to join them. He said: “It is truly a beautiful place this time of year, a walk amongst the bluebells, rhododendrons and azalea bushes with outstanding views. We will have lots of stalls and cream teas, cakes and a barbecue.

“A kind of place you can relax after a hard week.

“It would be lovely to see everyone on the day.”
