POLICE are appealing to the public after a 62-year-old woman went missing in Dorchester yesterday.

Officers said that Marilyn Carter, who is from Dorchester, was dropped off in the town centre yesterday morning at around 10am and has not been seen by her family since.

She was reported missing at about 10pm.

Just after 11am today, officers said that Mrs Carter had been found safe and well. Here is the story.

In the original appeal Chief Inspector Stewart Dipple, of Dorset Police, said: “It has been reported that Marilyn was upset yesterday morning and this behaviour is out of character.

"She normally gets in contact with her family again when she has finished in town to be picked up but has failed to do so this time.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Marilyn or a woman matching her description to please call Dorset Police as soon as possible.

“If Marilyn sees this message, please contact us as we and your family want to ensure that you are safe and well.”
