THOUSANDS of people flocked to the Great Classic and Supercar show.
More than 1,800 cars were on display at the event at Sherborne Castle and an estimated 10,000 people went along to enjoy the weather and the vehicles.
Stuart Annett, show secretary, said: “This year the Marque Feature was Rolls Royce and with the help of sponsor Rybrook Rolls Royce of Bristol a fantastic array of cars were on display from 1904 to current-day models.
“As usual we welcomed the arrival of Supercar tours featuring McLaren courtesy of Rybrook McLaren (including the £1.8M - P1), Lamborghini and Aston Martin courtesy of H R Owen and a terrific collection from the PistonHeads club members.”
For the first time visitors were able to take part in a World Rally Championship stimulator, which was one of the highlights of the show.
The show was supported by 47 car clubs who between them displayed over 600 cars on the showfields in front of the Castle.
Another new feature was the Supercar static display which hosted over 30 of the world’s most powerful and expensive cars.
The castle forecourt display had three chain driven race cars from the early 1900’s. These were the 1905 Fiat Isotta Fraschini 16.5ltr , a 1904 Maudslay 9ltr and the Rolls Royce - Manchester Special.
Mr Ancott added: “With over 150 trade, craft and autojumble stands, both Jazz and Forties music, and a children’s area there was something for everyone.”
Organisers hoped the event would raise up to £30,000, which will be donated to various charities including Cancer Research UK, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Sherborne Area Youth Community Centre and Future Roots.
