PIRATES from the Pavilion and children from 10 dance schools in Dorset have been busy taking over the Nothe Fort for the launch of this year’s summer pantomime at Weymouth Pavilion.

The swashbuckling adventure is back in Weymouth for its third year.

Pirates of the Pavilion will be spicing up everyone’s summer from July 27 to August 30.

Britain’s Got Talent impressionist Philip Green is returning to play the part of Seadog Billy, whose hilarious comedy antics and impersonations had audiences rolling in the aisles during last year’s production.

At the launch of the summer spectacular, Philip said: “The whole show is so jam packed with the most amazing special effects.

“It’s crazy, mental and bigger and better than last year. We work so well together, I’ve never gelled so well with a team – it’s the reason I keep coming back.

“Weymouth is always up for it too, there’s never a dull show – party on down darling!”

Alongside Philip, the Pavilion is welcoming back Weymouth’s own Charlotte Allen as Buccaneer Becky, Alex Anstey as Sting-Ray, Guardian of the Seas, and Robert Squire as the bumbling Captain Filibuster.

This year’s production features special effects by Wareham-based The Twins FX, who are ensuring that the magic of pantomime quite literally fills the theatre.

Watch out for Seadog Billy as he soars out over the heads of the audience on his spectacular flying motorbike.

Redwood, writer and director of Pirates of the Pavilion, this summer. Usually, he’s dressed up as a dame for the Christmas pantos, but for this production, all hands are on deck backstage.

He said: “We are back for our third year now, with a new production company but the creative team is the same.

“We are all local and it’s written specifically for Weymouth.

“The flying motorbike without wires is spectacular and there’s all the children from 10 different local dance schools doing a week each.

“It’s a lot fuller and spectacular than ever before.”

Chris Cole, marketing manager for Weymouth Pavilion added: “Each dance school has been rehearsing bits individually and now we are all rehearsing together.

“We have the platform here at the Pavilion and it’s great to give the kids the chance to perform on a professional stage and be a part of it.”
